What are Acrostic Poems?
An egg acrostic poem of the word "EASTER"

An acrostic poem is a poem using the letters of a word. In the photo to the left, I used the word "Easter" for my poem. You will then create words or phrases related to Easter using the letters. Here was mine:

Easter Bunny

A Basket of Candy

Sunday

Toys

Eggs

Rabbit

Acrostic poems are fairly easy for young kids. You can brainstorm words and phrases with them if they are having trouble thinking of words.

My favorite part about these acrostic poems is that you fold them up and they create an egg!

An egg acrostic poem of the word "spring"

There are two options included in this free download - "SPRING" and "EASTER" acrostic poems.

Remember when I said that you might want to brainstorm some ideas with your kids? I suggest doing that if you choose the "SPRING" acrostic poem! I was racking my brain trying to come up with a word for the letter I and finally landed on irises. Since I had all words on this one, I didn't want to add a phrase. I'd love to see what words and phrases you and your kids come up with - leave me a comment below or tag me on instagram @cultivatingbrilliantminds.
